Stood watch here a bunch. Got pepper sprayed here too! Friendly staff provided heaters in the guard shacks. (Thanks!) Got excellent service getting DOD stickers for my motorcycle. Took a few rating exams and CLEP tests here. Embry Riddle satellite was excellent. Miss the auto hobby shop and gym.
Went to the 2017 air show and it was AMAZING. I truly has the time of my life and cannot wait to go next year. The Blue Angels were out of this world
It was my home for 4 years, my command, easy to get around, easy to remember locations. Great people for the most part.
I am 74 and grew up very near Oceana NAS and remember as a child that when the jets flew overhead the TV would flutter for a few seconds. I was fascinated with the sound and loved seeing them overhead(we lived within a mile of runway). Back then they could break the sound barrier legally and it was amazing to hear and see the power. GOD bless our Navy and all of our military. Due to these brave men and women, we still live FREE!!
I love jet noise!! It's the sound of FREEDOM.Thank you service members!
Between squadrons, AIMD and base Police, I was stationed at Oceana for over 17 years . I retired from NAS Norfolk, but still consider Oceana to be my "Home" base. I'm sure the base has changed since the days of F-4s.A-6s and F-14s, but I still have very nice memories of the base. Been retired over 23 years now, but still remember the base to be beautiful! I Sure do miss it! I'd love to visit it, but living so far away, makes it kind of difficult.
The people here are very nice.
Clean...family oriented...historical.......great stop
Although they fly their jets directly over my house in all hours of the night and day, God bless the military for the work they do!
Went golfing with a friend at Oceana, the facilities are pretty nice. The only issue is the noise, and weekdays are the absolute worst! It almost feels like you have to wear hearing protection! Otherwise it's very nice.
Took a Field Trip there with my School Christopher Farms loved it
